How do you prepare the wood and the preserve it?

I have a large living room space that is cream with one garnet accent wall. I am refinishing a larger table to put against the accent wall. The table will be espresso. Is this too dark together? Should I repaint the garnet wall? I want the espresso. It is a better match for my new furniture. Should the wall stay or go? Thanks for everyones help.

i just purchased a small round accent table its has a mirrored top with a antique finish on the mirror and the legs are silver with some detailing. i loved the table and i didn't buy it to hold any practical items...but now i cant decide what to put on it!! and not a lamp i don't really need that

I painted a wall cinnamon cherry red and it looks great. I also purchased an accent table which came with a mirror. I don't like the mirror but going to use the table. I was thinking about a picture over the table. My husband says we should buy a pic that is bigger than the table, but I am thinking about a pic that is about the same size as the table with candle scones on the sides. My question is should a pic be bigger than the table. Help.

I just bought a gorgeous brown distressed leather Bernhardt sectional with a matching recliner that my husband HAD to have. Not crazy about it, but since he is, we're keeping it. I'm new to decorating (first home) and I'm wondering if a recliner and an accent chair can be placed in proximity of each other with an accent table separating them. I don't want to overwhelm the space, yet add some sophistication and contrast to the dark leather. Opinions? Suggestions? Thanks, ~Sophia

I found a banana leaf nightstand at worldmarket.com that $90. I was hoping to find something priced better. And I found a banana leaf chest (nighstand size ) at IKEA for $40. But the shipping is expensive. Anyone know where i can find something similar - rattan, banana leaf, natural fiber table?

The tables are taller than coffee tables but longer than end tables. Usually they are behind a couch when the floor plan is open and the couch is not near a wall. I don't know what to use as my key words in a search and I'm not finding what I want....

Walmart used to sell this accent table that cost around $7.00..it was round, had 3 legs you screwed under belly and had an optional glass topper to purchase seperately. They don't sell anymore. Does anyone in the Dallas, TX area know where I can find similar item?

We just purchased this house and the carpet is new and I love the cappiccino /navy combo. I'm buying new couches/accent pieces/tables but am at a total loss of what color to go with. It's a family room so I want comfort but I need a little color splash also b/c eveything brown/beige will drive me battyThis room opens up to the kitchen which is the same color scheme. Help me please!!!!!!!

Sooo.. I have a new color scheme idea for my living room.. I was thinking of using lighter brown/ almost khaki accent colors (throw pillows, curtains)..and maybe some dark brown? But will it look ok with black end and coffee tables?
